Sisters Road To Freedom, a Lexington, KY nonprofit food pantry, is in need of extended volunteer assistance—potentially over the next several months—until a long‑term volunteer or alternative arrangements can be made. They are seeking help on Tuesday mornings to pick up donated food items from Trader Joe’s, 2396 Nicholasville Road, at 10:00 a.m., and deliver them to their food pantry at 1412 N Broadway, Suite 206.
When you arrive at Trader Joe’s, park at the far-right side facing the front of the building. You will see a gated dumpster area and a pathway that leads to the rear of the store. A representative from Glean (another nonprofit) will meet you there. They may arrive in the Glean‑branded van or in their personal vehicle.
The Glean representative will drive to the rear of the building to collect the produce items, you will have to be looking out for them to arrive. You will be responsible for picking up the frozen and dairy items. Once both sets of donations are loaded, you and the Glean representative will each deliver your items to the Sisters Road To Freedom office.
Donations typically include a mix of frozen, fresh, and produce items. An SUV is helpful, though usually only a few boxes are involved.
